PA Cyber Families

Cyber Alert: Thank you and we need your help!

Dear Families,

We wanted to update each of you about what is happing in Harrisburg.  We had the opportunity to meet with several legislators on Tuesday in Harrisburg. We are grateful for the legislators who met with us to discuss our public cyber schools and how they are helping to provide a quality education to children in Pennsylvania.

Thank you to Sen. John Wozniak, Rep. Jim Marshall, Rep. Rick Saccone, Rep. Rob Kauffman, Rep. Seth Grove, Rep. Jim Cox, Rep. Kathy Rapp and Rep. Donna Oberlander for taking time from your busy schedules to learn about our schools and to hear from families whose children are benefiting from public cyber schools!

We also want to thank all of our families who contacted the members of the House Education Committee prior to the hearing that was scheduled for Jan 26th.  While the hearing was postponed, our voices are being heard!

The hearing has been rescheduled and will be held on February 15th at 9:00 am. The Education Committee will be meeting with cyber school head of schools.

Funding for our schools will be a topic of this hearing and ultimately a topic of debate during budget season. We can not let others dominate the discussion regarding our schools.  The PSEA and PSBA are lobbying heavily in Harrisburg.  They are continuing to distort the facts and perpetuating myths and misconceptions regarding our public cyber schools. We need to have our voices heard as well!

Cyber schools already receive 30% less than the local districts but yet we have all of the same requirements. Any cuts in funding would reduce the services our schools can provide.

Please take a few moments and call the members of the House Education Committee. Please let them know how important our schools are to your children. Ask them to vote no to any funding cuts for our schools.

Below is a list of the members of the House Education Committee and their Harrisburg phone numbers.  Please take a few minutes and contact as many of them as you can as soon as possible.

Thank you all for continuing to protect our public cyber schools.

Stay Energized!
