I don't know about you, but I'm tired of our schools getting attacked. Two recent articles appeared that demand our attention!
An article appeared this week in The Morning Call. You can read it here: http://www.mcall.com/news/local/mc-charter-school-pension-double-dip-20140210,0,117283.story#ixzz2t7qeDI5z
The article misses the fact that our schools are being targeted for cuts even though they receive less than 1 percent of all public education funding. That's the kind of funding gap our public cyber schools face each year in Pennsylvania. Yet, special interests and some state lawmakers are still seeking ways to enact draconian cuts on our schools.
What these opponents are really trying to do is kill a families right to choose -- and eliminate the competition.
We need your help! Please take a moment and write a letter to the editor to the Morning Call. You can send it HERE. Please keep your letters to around 200 words and make sure to include your contact information or they will not consider your letters. Let The Morning Call and legislators here why cuts to our schools are unfair! Our children are being treated like second-class citizens! We've had enough.
In another piece, state Reps. Joe Emrick and Mike Reese urged the Senate to pass more cuts to cybers. You can read their piece here: http://www.pottsmerc.com/opinion/20140211/op-ed-reform-of-pa-charter-schools-long-overdue. Please respond to this piece with your own letter, HERE. Again, Please keep your letters to around 200 words and make sure to include your contact information or they will not consider your letters.
We appreciate your attention to our schools. Thank you all for everything that you are doing to protect our schools! It takes all of our voices to stop these cuts from happening!
Letting your voice be heard!
Another way to add your voice is to attend some upcoming Town Hall Meetings that legislators are having across the state. Please attend these meetings. Make sure to thank these legislators for being champions of school choice and for helping to protect our schools! As we get more dates, we will keep adding to the list.
