Clearing up your questions about our "Day on the Hill"

We came up with a list of Frequently Asked Questions list to help with any questions you may have about the "Day on the Hill". If you have a question not answered below, please e-mail me at jenny@pacyberfamilies.org and I will get back to you!

Should we pack a lunch?

Please plan to either pack a lunch or buy one at the Capitol or at one of the restaurants nearby.  There are tables available both inside and outside of the Capitol.  The main capitol cafeteria is located in the East Wing and is easy to find.

Where should we park?

There are several public parking garages within a block our two of the Capitol.  Please see the following map: http://www.pacyberfamilies.org/uploads/capitolcomplexmap.pdf.

When we arrive where do we go?

The rear of the Capitol building by the fountain.  Look for our table.  Our board members and I will be there greeting parents and answering questions.

Is it okay to stop my legislator's office without an appointment?

ABSOLUTELY!  This happens all the time.  Make sure you let your legislator's aide know you are a constituent. If the representative is not there, we will provide you with materials you can leave behind, stating the coalition's position on public cyber schools. Leave them with the aide, along with your name and contact information, including your cell phone.  Good legislators are big on constituent service and will make an effort to acknowledge your visit.

What should I say to my legislator?

Tell him or her why our public cyber schools work for your children and you would like their support in protecting public cyber schools. We also have a variety of resources to use, including our myth busters sheet: http://www.pacyberfamilies.org/uploads/Cyber%20School%20Myth%20Busters.pdf.  Please take a few minutes to read our myth busters!

What is the rally about?

Our legislators have given our children the opportunity to pursue the very best public education.  We are going to Harrisburg to thank them for championing cyber schools and to show our enthusiasm and commitment to public cyber schooling.

What should we wear?

Your school shirts, if you have them.  Or you can stop by our table and grab some coalition T-shirts, while they last, they will be available at our table by the fountain.

Thank you again for attending our 2nd Annual Day on the Hill.  We have heard from so many families and schools who are working together to drive attendance toward this important day.  It is events like these that help show our legislators just how much we value our public cyber schools.

Stay Energized!
