May 12, 2008

HARRISBURG, Pa. - The Pennsylvania Families for Public Cyber Schools (PA Families) second annual Day on the Hill on Tuesday, May 13, will culminate with a press conference and the presentation of Cyber Leadership awards to State Senator Jeffrey Piccola, Majority Leader Bill DeWeese, and Reps. Sam Rohrer and Barbara McIlvaine-Smith.

The press conference at the Main Capitol fountain will take place at 1 p.m. YOUR COVERAGE IS INVITED.

Hundreds of families from across Pennsylvania region will be attending, including those from Harrisburg, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Lancaster, York, Scranton, and Allentown. These are families with a variety of compelling stories as to why these innovative schools have given their children their best opportunity for a public education.

During the day, parents and supporters of some 21,000 students will also meet with legislators to tell their success stories and ask them to protect their cyber schools against legislation that would drastically cut funding.
