PA FAMILIES STRONGLY OPPOSE ATTEMPT TO CUT PUBLIC
June 4, 2008

Rices Landing, Pa. - Pennsylvania Families for Public Cyber Schools President Jenny Bradmon today issued this response to Rep. Karen Beyer's attempt to cut funding for public cyber schools:

"Just a few weeks ago, hundreds of families came to Harrisburg to thank lawmakers for ensuring Pennsylvania has the best public cyber schools in the nation. It is a shame Rep. Beyer continues to ignore the facts about these schools and the support they receive from thousands of families all across the state. Public cyber schools are just that - public, and are just as accountable as traditional public schools.

"In fact, it costs Pennsylvania taxpayers less to educate a public cyber student. We read daily about new, lavish schools being built and the millions of dollars in new taxes these projects demand, yet public cyber schools are accused of being drains on local school budgets. It is simply not true. There are many real issues facing school districts across the state; public cyber students are not one of them."
