Dear Families, As we expected, Rep. Karen Beyer has vowed to have her anti-cyber school legislation amended to every educational bill considered by the House this summer. She held a press conference this week demanding action on her legislation, HB 446. "I will leave no stone unturned in an effort to bring enactment of this legislation," Beyer said. Her intent could not be more clear and our response needs to be just as certain: We will fight any attempt to cut funding for our public cyber schools! Now is the time to contact your legislators! Even if you have talked to them before, we need to let them know how much cyber schooling means to our families and to ask them to oppose HB 446! We have a variety of resources on our website, http://www.pacyberfamilies.org/, that dispel the mistruths behind the Beyer bill, including our myth busters sheet. Follow this link to download: http://www.pacyberfamilies.org/uploads/Cyber School Myth Busters.pdf We also have several form letters you can use as part of our Day on the Hill recap. Please click on this link http://pacyberfamilies.org/register08/ and follow the prompts. We need all hands on deck! Day on the Hill recap Speaking of our Day on the Hill, we've put together a full recap event, including a photo gallery and video courtesy of our friends at PAVCS. It was a fantastic turnout by cyber families from across the state and from many of our schools. Please use the link listed above. Please take the survey! On the recap page is a quick survey which I hope everyone will fill out so we can better gauge where our support is and where we need to do some work in the state House. Please click on this link http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=91MbpnRymgGVOUcgWodgwQ_3d_3d and help us protect our schools! A link to the survey can also be found on the recap page. Thank you all for your time, effort and dedication. You have always delivered when asked, so let's let them hear our voices loud and clear one more time! Stay energized! Jenny Bradmon, president
