Thank You, Gov. and Mrs. Rendell! In case you missed it this week, Gov. Ed Rendell and First Lady Marjorie Rendell led a virtual classroom discussion with children across Pennsylvania. It was an opportunity for the governor to highlight his Classrooms of the Future.
Click here for a link to the governor’s release. I believe all of our families certainly know what Gov. Rendell is talking about when he said, "Today's class was a terrific demonstration of how technology is transforming our classrooms and broadening horizons for our kids.” We see this everyday. Public cyber schools ARE classrooms of the future – and they have been operating in Pennsylvania for several years. I guess you can say the future is now. Unfortunately, Pennsylvania’s public school establishment and others are targeting public cyber schools for funding cuts. We hope Gov. and Mrs. Rendell will join us in protecting these vitally important schools from those who seek to close our schools, and in doing so, stomp out the very innovation Gov. Rendell supports. Cybers under attack! Unfortunately, it never seems the news is entirely good. This week an article appeared in The Herald-Mail distorting several facts about our public cyber schools. We would encourage you to read the story and respond with a letter to editor. You will find the story is filled with the same inaccuracies our critics always use. Let’s set the record straight! Our schools cost less, are more accountable and save money for taxpayers because cybers do not need to build hundred million dollar school buildings every other year! Please view the article here . You can send letters to the editor to: bobm@herald-mail.com. Thanks! Candidate survey update As you know from our last alert, we have sent surveys to all candidates for state office. As the election nears and the candidates make their rounds in your neighborhoods, please make a point to tell them to respond to our survey immediately. All they have to do is go to our Web site, log on and answer a few questions. It will only take them five minutes! Click here to check out the questions we asked. And while you are at it, make sure you tell them to protect our schools!
I want to thank all of you for making this organization a strong voice for families!
Stay Energized! Jenny Bradmon, President
