Dear Families, What a fabulous day it was in Harrisburg last week! I can not even begin to say how grateful I am for your willingness to come to Harrisburg to thank the legislators for our public cyber schools. We had over 2,500 people on the steps of the Capitol for the rally! It was great to see the brightly colored T-shirts flooding the Capitol! There is no doubt we were noticed by every single representative at the Capitol on Tuesday. With so many of us in their offices, how could we be missed! We would like to take a moment and thank the Pennsylvania Coalition of Charter Schools (PCCS) for partnering with us this year. We were also pleased to have PCCS President Larry Jones speak at the rally as well. We also want to send out a big thank you to our friends at the Black Alliance for Educational Options (BAEO). They brought a large number of their families to the Capitol. Thanks again to both organizations for your support of our Day on the Hill! We were honored to present our Cyber Leadership Award to Senators Jeffrey Piccola, Anthony Williams, John Pippy and Mike Folmer and to Representatives Rob Kauffman and Jim Marshall. We are grateful for their continued support of our schools. They all are champions for charter and cyber charter schools! While we met in Harrisburg on Tuesday, families in Ohio met in Columbus on Wednesday for their Day on the Hill. Ohio families are also facing cuts in funding to schools. Over 4,000 people came together to support their schools! We want to congratulate the Ohio coalition for their great event! Clips from our event can be found on youTube. I have also included links below so you can see the event. I really wish I could say we can now catch our breath, but we need to stay vigilant. There are multiple proposals pending which would drastically cut finding for public cyber schools. Please keep in touch with your legislators. Build on the relationship to make sure they know how strongly you believe in your educational choice. We will keep you updated with any changing developments so you can be ready to respond! If you are not sure who your legislators are you can find them by going to: http://www.legis.state.pa.us/ . Go to the upper-right corner, enter your zip code and follow the instructions. Your commitment and passion for public cyber schools was on full display on Tuesday. I am very honored to be associated with such a group! Thank you all again for your efforts! Keep moving forward!
