| Cyber Alert - Nominate Your Favorite Teacher |
March 30, 2010
Dear Families, Once again it is time to recognize your favorite teacher. The National Coalition for Public School Options (NCPSO) has announced their second annual American Pioneer of Teaching Award, which will recognize top performing elementary and secondary teachers who work in pioneering public schools, such as virtual, charter and magnet schools. Students, parents, fellow teachers, friends and family members can nominate a teacher using an online form located on the NCPSO website at: http://www.publicschooloptions.org/americanpioneer/ I want to encourage you to go to the website and nominate your favorite teacher today. Keep in mind, the award application must be submitted before the deadline on Friday, April 12th. As many of you know, Jane Ferris, a teacher at Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School, University Division, was the first recipient of this award. This award is a excellent opportunity to highlight teachers you know and show them you appreciate their commitment to education and our kids’ success. Please share the entry information with family and friends, as well as anyone you think might be interested. Day on the Hill
I also wanted to remind you of the upcoming 4th Annual Day on the Hill. Our friends from the Pennsylvania Coalition of Charter Schools will be hosting the event with us this year. We are very happy to be working with PCCS to help protect our charter schools.
We are going to be making a few changes to the event this year. We will not be meeting at the Capitol this year. This year we will be meeting in the Mall area near the State Museum on North Street. We will then be marching together from North Street down Commonwealth Avenue where we will gather at the Capitol Fountain for the rally.
We will be posting details on the website soon! So keep checking our site for updates and more information!
I hope to see all of you there!
Keep moving forward!
